Accommodations Overview

Where to find and configure accessibility settings and reasonable adjustments in VivaEdu.

VivaEdu provides comprehensive accommodation options across multiple locations in the platform. Instructors can set accommodations that alter viva behavior (extended time, re-recording, pause/resume), while students can configure their own visual and interface preferences without needing approval.

This page covers where to configure each type of accommodation. For detailed explanations of what each accommodation does, see the dedicated pages linked in the Related Pages section.

Permanent vs. Session-Specific

Accommodations set in the Student Profile are permanent and apply to all future viva sessions for that student. Accommodations set during Viva Verification or in the Assignment Wizard apply only to that specific viva.

Q&A Assignment Wizard (Step 5)

When creating a Q&A Viva Assignment, Step 5 allows you to set viva-wide accommodations that apply to all students, and per-student accommodations for individual needs.

Important

Accommodations set during verification configuration apply only to that specific verification session. They do not modify the student's permanent accommodations. For permanent changes, use the Student Profile instead.

Batch Review (Extensions & Re-dos)

The batch review table provides quick access to grant extensions and allow re-dos for individual students.

Extensions add extra time beyond the due date. Re-dos clear all responses and give the student 7 days to resubmit. TAs cannot grant re-dos and must contact the instructor.

What Students Can Set Themselves

Students can configure visual and interface preferences through their Settings page. These options affect only the student's own interface and do not require instructor approval.
